The meaning of life

If I write Allah, with a capital A this doesn't mean that I believe in the existence of Allah. So this is a very poor try to prove that Tim actually is a believer in God, just because he wrote God with a capital G. This is crazy.
I believe the so called "evidences" you mentioned are as well exact as this previous prove of yours.
Try to fit in some logic into your thoughts. Define words like evidence. And (hopefully) you'll see how much mistakes you make in your logic.

What I try to say is; if you are sinical, you will not belief. You will find all the excuses you can to believe what ever you want. In any case I do not need to proof, or give evidence of God's existence. It is there, around us, in us. The actual question is do you believe it. Either you do, or you don't. If like Tim, you hang in between and expect someone to show you a way, then you need help of the knowledgeable. By the way if I do not believe in something, I will not contemplate it. I will Ignore it. Think about that?

You surely don't ignore things you don't believe in, as well as you don't ignore comments which you don't agree with. Think about that.

Why is it so hard for 'blind believers' to accept that some people would also like to use their brain? Is it a crime? Is it totally useless? Or meaningless? Did God ever show you how to manipulate plastic or metal, how to create a computerchip, a car, a cellphone, a medicine...? All of these are things for which using our brain is necessary. Yes, I want knowledge and I believe that knowledge gives us help. The things we discover, conquest or figure out, are things which help us have a more precise picture of reality. And without knowing reality, without having any idea of reality, your belief will be surely a mistake.
Just think about 1000 years ago, when people thaught that the world was flat and they truly believed it. Even more, people had to suffer for the rest of their life, or eve die, because they said something else than what the actual leadership thaught.

In the middle-age, hundreds of thousands were killed in the name of God. Is this the way God is around us? You may believe whatever you want to. But without knowledge, your belief will be sinful.

You only confirm what I said. You are cynical. And I am not a blind believer. If that is the case, I would not be able to see Gods creation. He gave me the ability to think, to finish school, study, make a living, bring up children, taught them values, .... and I can go on and on ...... Blind believers lived in the middle ages, the were told to believe and did so. Today, we live in a modern age, where people are believers, because the are knowledgeable and made that choice. For you my friend, believe in your excuses, that is the choice you made. You decided to be cynical, and criticize everyone around you. As a 'not blind' believer, you just sinned against this rule of God at least twice on this website alone. And you call yourself a person who knows what is the value and what is not...
I don't believe in the God you believe in. I don't believe in the Bible and I don't follow all the rules the church forces upon believers. Maybe my life is worse than yours, or my life is not as worthy as yours. Maybe I'm too young to have children yet, and maybe I'll never have any. But if you're so much better than me then how come you make the same mistakes I do?

But then, why are you a non-believer, what happened in your life making you to question everything good? NO person is born cynical, no person is born a non-believer. Things happen in our lives that create negative reactions, and thinking styles.

And you might answer me, what is it to me. Probably nothing, but it is to you, and you need to answer to yourself, why are there so much darkness and pain in your heart. What created it.

I believe we have a purpose in life. And many want to know what that purpose is. Not just finding what your good at or what your interests are and find something along the lines that fits what you like or are good at, yes of course this adds on to who we are as a being and what we do in life. But the bigger question of what people want to know is why what is the purpose of doing these things and our existence. why were put on this earth ? Is work and then death all we must look forward to in life? All these things are inevitable and being humans of course we are only curious to know what the answers are.
For me this is what i believe.
First I believe that God is our creator and the creator of earth and everything in it (everything having to do with nature). When he first put the man and woman on earth everything was perfect for them everything was provided for them they did not have to labor or worry about something bad coming upon them.They were made to be on Gods side they were alive for him because of him. Every aspect of their lives depended and revolved around God and in return God was their for them and provided and they were happy. Of course then most of us know of when the devil(which for some of you i know is also a type of contradictory subject)disguised as a serpent tricked eve into temptation and ate of the forbidden fruit and then from their Adam did to. From that point They're whole being, they're mind was open the to idea of sin, and they're sin was that of disobedience. And so they're perfect world became an imperfection.
Your maybe thinking why is she telling us this story and so on but to me this ties up together in one way or another.
Being just like in the beginning when God created everything his whole purpose was for us to live for him and with him just as Adam and eve did. We were made with the purpose to praise him and be in awe of what he is and his creation.And by doing so God will provide us with what we need both spiritually and physically only what he can give is fulfilling. This cold world has nothing to offer, nothing in this world can fulfill that part inside of you that thirsts for something more. Only he can. Now don't get me wrong of course God will provide for you and will come in your time of need, but that doesn't mean things will be perfect all the time.Because unfortunately in the beginning when sin entered this world all perfection was lost.

So our purpose, to live for him and he will fill whatever void we have inside because basically the only reason we look for a reason to life is because we feel something is missing in us and to me that missing piece is God. And also when we ourselves find that missing piece and fulfillment it is also our purpose to share that with others so they too can find what you have found.

I am sort of cynical, but contemporary education is what caused me to drop what weak theism I had... I only capitalize god if I'm writing it and someone else is seeing and I actually care, or if I am just showing respect to those who do believe.

Science tells us that we just are. That we came from dust, and will return to dust. You say God can't just always have been, and yet is that not what you are saying about everything else? That dust and particales have always been.
The world and everything in it, is to complex to be random.
You think you can spring from nothing, but God can't.

If you were a pot maker, and made a beutiful pot that one day cracked, do you not have the right to through it away? Or make a new pot? We are all cracked in one way or another. and we try to fix ourself's. You can't fix a crack that you can't see. Just as you can never be good enough to fix all the wrong that you do. How good is good enough??

God made a way to be good enough. Someone who paid for all the wrong that you or I have done. HIS SON JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Complex things are based on randomness with a much greater possibility than simple things. Randomness occurs according to the law of great numbers.
Randomness doesn't mean no control. There can be control even if it's random. The particles can behave according to laws even if their movement is basically random.


Now this is a good question for religion. I often think about this in relation with God. If God knows everything then he knows that a defective person cannot be as good as a healthy person. So if the achievements expected for the reach of heaven are objective and general, then weak, defective or "less lucky" people have a smaller chance to get into heaven. However, God had to know this before, and if this is so, then he simply doomed these people by will. Thus, he cannot be called the greatest good.
On the other hand, if the achievements expected for the reach of heaven are relative to the person's own potential, then everyone has the same chance to reach heaven, although "good" may mean a much more infinitesimal thing for one person, and a more valuable thing for another. If there are 2 people, let's say you and me, and we live about the same life, it would be possible that you could reach heaven, but maybe I would need to do much more to reach it. Is this right? Why would someone need to be the savior of all mankind, while another person would only need not to drive through a cat to get to heaven? This doesn't sound fair either.

How can there be a Good God? One that lets so much bad stuff happen everyday. No, if there is a God, I hope I can meet him. So I can kick his ass ...

Well, I'd prefer to say that if there is a God who is guiding the universe then he is rather truthful than good. I can imagine that there are parameters which we don't know about and these parameters change someone's life in the way it is, meaning that there are children suffering of illness and such things, which we don't understand but still there may be a logical reason for them.
Let's say the purgatory is actually Earth. This means that we've already lived a life before we were born here, we just don't remember it, and now we have to suffer according to our sins in our past life. This would explain all the sad and bad things a man has to face in his life on Earth.
Then we can say that God is truthful because all the people receive pain and sorrow according to their previous life, it's just that we don't remember that life. And after we die, we will reach heaven or hell, according to how hard we've faced our problems. There may be people who have no other choice but to face their problems, like children who were born with an illness. They will self-evidentially get to heaven when they die. But there are other people, like criminals who could have another choice, who don't seem to face their problems, and they will go to hell eventually.

Although we don't feel this truthful because we don't know about the causes and the consequences of this life, it still might be truthful. Yet, we have to say that although nature is always working like this (it always gives you what you give to it), it still cannot be called good, because goodness is just one half of this whole thing.
Nature has a nature which is not good or bad, but simply reasonable.

As much as I've looked inside that book, I wouldn't say that it gives an answer to anything. It simply states such things as "God is Creator of ALL". It seems to be nonsense to me to write a book about proving the biblical theories and philosophies, and then putting the whole explanation to such assumptions...
On the other hand, there can be just as much (if not more) books written about the opposite issue, starting with the assumption that "God is not real".
So this is not really an answer.

Sorry to say, but looking inside a book, would not make the answers appear. Only reading the book will. But on the underhand, if you have hardened your heart for the truth, I cannot expect it to become apparent. Only willingness from the human side to learn and understand will open the truth. That is why nothing I say comes to you. You are unwilling to learn and understand.

You're wrong. I want to learn and understand. And I want to know the truth. But the truth begins with accepting that the Bible contradicts with reality. Of course we can say that God is testing us and this is the reason why the Bible is not cut and dried, but the fact is that this is only the defensive reaction of religious people on the questions of nonreligious people.
Religion is secured with the concept of punishment on not believing, i.e. if you question God's truth then you go to hell, if you question that the religion mediates God's words then you go to hell, etc. But this is not the truth, this is the lack of truth. Religion does not offer any possibility to overview and change its own dogmas. Even if God would come here and say that this and that is not as it was written in the Bible, the church would probably declare God as Satan, because he didn't talk about the so-called "truth" which is written in the Bible.

For willing to learn and understand, you have to be able to accept that anything you've ever learned may be wrong. You're telling that the answer is in the Bible. You're not ready to question the Bible.

Okay, if I am wrong, then please give me details of where the Bible contradicts reality? Further, for interest sake, if you read the first sections of the referenced book, you will find that the author, at some point also questioned the Bible, questioned religion. He went into research to find the truth. I still recommend reading it. He has a complete new approach to anything we might call "religion".
There are more than one way of seeing things, and his way is different, definitely not religous in the normal sense of the word.
